Tired of Winging It? How a Weekly Planning Ritual Can Change Your Life
Let’s be honest, most of us are winging it.
We wake up, glance at our never-ending to-do list, scroll for “motivation,” and then jump from one task to the next hoping productivity will magically appear.
But here’s the truth no one tells you: Clarity doesn’t come from chaos. It comes from intention.
If you're reading this, you're probably craving more ease in your week. Less overwhelm. More direction. You want to feel like you’re moving with purpose instead of spinning your wheels.
I’ve been there too, until I created a simple weekly planning ritual that actually sticks.
A few months ago, I realized something had to change. I was juggling my 9–5, building Hour Day, and trying to stay present in my personal life but everything felt scattered.
Sunday nights would come, and instead of resetting for the week, I’d spiral into anxiety about what I didn’t get done.
That’s when I created the RESET formula—and built it into my Weekly Planner Notion Template.
RESET stands for:
Reflect
Eliminate
Structure
Energize
Track
It’s not about planning every hour of your life. It’s about resetting your rhythm and intentionally choosing what matters.
Why Most Planning Systems Don’t Work
Let’s be real: most planners overwhelm you before you even write your name in them.
They ask you to map out your whole year, every goal, and every minute of your life. No wonder we give up by Week 2.
What makes the Weekly Planner different is that it helps you:
Reflect on what worked and what didn’t last week
Let go of the fluff (eliminate what’s draining you)
Create a weekly structure that fits your real life
Build in time to recharge
Actually track your progress with grace (not guilt)
How to Start Your Own Weekly Planning Ritual (15 Minutes or Less)
Here’s what my Sunday planning ritual looks like using the RESET formula:
1. Reflect (3 min)
Ask yourself: What felt good last week? What drained me?
Example: I noticed I had more energy when I started my mornings tech-free.
2. Eliminate (2 min)
Cut the non-essentials.
Example: I was trying to do 5 different marketing tasks—this week, I’ll just focus on email.
3. Structure (5 min)
Plan your top 3 priorities each day. Keep it simple and doable.
Example: Monday = content batching, Wednesday = meetings, Friday = review and reset.
4. Energize (2 min)
Build in what fuels you.
Example: Daily walk, 30-min midweek painting session, Friday FaceTime with a friend.
5. Track (3 min)
Pick 1–2 metrics to follow.
Example: Workouts logged, Instagram posts published, sales made.
What Happens When You Actually Stick to It?
You stop feeling guilty for resting.
You stop second-guessing your every move.
You start showing up like the version of you who knows what she’s doing.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about alignment.
